Updating Our Entryway

The entryway to my house has been bugging me for a while now. I won the battle of getting rid of my fiance’s once beloved, but more recently neglected, fish tank that took over our entryway. Ever since then it has been pretty empty.

We have an open floor plan in our living room/kitchen area and in the past almost two years of my son’s life it has quickly gotten taken over by toys. All of our past methods of storing the toys were either completely inefficient or completely hideous, so I knew I needed some cute, yet safe storage. I also wanted a nice place for some flowers to brighten up the room and to set things down when we come in.

Cue the Jolie Double Chest from Pier 1 imports. I bought it in brown. It is normally $230, but one day I walked in and saw it was on sale and that was that! I had to have it.

It has worked perfectly for toy storage and a bit of decor. Right now I have baby photos of LD and Eli, some roses from our front yard, and our “love” jar (we write down reasons why we love each other and put it in the jar every day until the wedding) sitting on it. It is also the perfect width, so it does not stick out too far and clutter our entryway.

I am completely obsessed with it. It is the best purchase I have made for the house yet. I still need to create an awesome wall art grouping above it, but finding the perfect pieces is taking some time, so I am sure an “Updated Updating Our Entryway” post will be coming in the near future!

P.S. You know you live in a house full of boys when one entire basket is dedicated to Army Toys and TWO whole baskets are for trucks/cars/tractors (and a stray Hulk). The munchkin couldn’t keep his little hands out!
