Kevyn Aucoin The Celestial Powder in Candlelight | Monday Makeover

First, can I just share this pretty little picture?

Well, pretty if you’re a beauty obsessed freak like me. I will be doing a full skincare routine video as soon as possible, but it is taking some time. These babies are a sneak peak. Heres a hint as to my thoughts on them, both are repurchases. One an immediate repurchase once it ran out, the other repurchased before I even used up my last eye cream that didn’t work as well.

So yeah, there’s that.

Today though I had to share some pretty pictures of one of my new favorite highlighters. Kevyn Aucoin’s The Celestial Powder in Candlelight. It has actually been in my collection all summer, but it still feels new to me.

First, a quick overview.

What they tell you: “This sheer, champagne-colored powder blurs imperfections, highlights cheekbones, and illuminates any areas that light naturally hits with an illuminating gleam.”

What it actually does: I don’t know about blurring imperfections, but it frankly just makes your cheekbones look gorgeous! This is probably my most stunning yet natural highlighter (and I have a lot of highlighters). It’s wear time is good, typical of a powder highlight. It is a warm champagne, similar to The Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer in color, but not intensity and finish.

It’s subtle but not so subtle that I’d compare it to Laura Mercier’s Matte Radiance Highlighter. Candlelight certainly makes an impact with it’s almost wet, glowing look, yet it is so finely-milled and the finish is so smooth that it is wearable on an every day basis. It is a true sheen, no glitter, sparkles or shimmer here.

Is it worth it and would I repurchase? Well, it doesn’t come cheap at $44, but to me, yes the product is worth the penny! I don’t think I’ll run out of it for a long, long time, but if I did I would repurchase it.

Alright, alright. I know you’re all here for swatches, let’s get on with them. Here’s to hoping the swatches do this justice…

But first, the packaging. Which I die over (so over dramatic) every time I use it. I still keep it in the little felt pouch too just so I feel fancy.

I die (lol).

I tried to swatch in different lights to show this baby off as best I could! I did three swatches: one swipe, two layers, and blended out.

What do you think of Candlelight? What is your favorite highlighter, wait no… I don’t need more to buy. Okay, yes. Tell me.

  1. Nice post. I’m definitely low maintenance when it comes to my make up routine which is a shame because my skin takes a beating from the sun and elements since I’m outside so much. I’ll be watching for your beauty routine.

I love makeup but swear I am rather low maintenance too. I’ve been trying so hard to moisturize more for the same reason! I keep it simple in the morning with Cetaphil that has SPF and I feel like I’m being so responsible while still being pretty lazy 🙂
