I honestly hate taking pictures of myself. These posts are always tough for me to share! I love doing makeup but feel pretty uncomfortable sharing it. Partly because I’m no expert at makeup, but mostly because I feel so uncomfortable looking at photos of myself.
Not as uncomfortable as I was when I tried being a “fashion blogger” and sharing outfit of the days. First of all, can you say awkward posing. Second of all, I waste enough money on gym clothes and makeup. My bank account hated me 😛
Today we’re talking holiday party makeup. I don’t wear much makeup on Christmas day. In the morning we open presents right away then in the evening we have Christmas dinner and me with lipstick + food doesn’t bode well.
Ignore my brows, I find them getting more sparse from all the waxing, so I’m going easy on the waxing for now which they grow.
This is makeup that I would wear throughout winter for any holiday party or on New Years Eve. Sparkly eyes and red lips are hardly original for the holiday season, but totally perfect for it. I don’t normally wear glitter (or red lipstick for that matter), but this is the perfect excuse to do it.
I started off with Loreal Infallible’s Silver Sky. These eyeshadows are gorgeous, so pigmented and most are super shimmery. I was going to go in with a silver/gray base, but decided I preferred it to be lighter in color with the shimmer blended out in the crease for a simple, glittery look.
I added a little bit of Mac’s Vanilla pigment on the inner corners, other than that it was just one shadow! The Vanilla pigment adds some extra 3D brightness because, Christmas, followed up with a cat eye wing which I thought was perfect for this look.
My face makeup was pretty basic- my usuals that you have heard about time and time again (but listed below if you’re interested).
For blush I went with a neutral mauve and went pretty hard on the highlighter with a cream from Becca AND Laura Mercier’s powder highlight. It’s Christmas, you’re basically required to go overboard on highlighter.
And finally, the grand finale: lips. I had to go with a bright red because I rarely wear them and this is a good excuse, but a darker red would be pretty too. I layered two reds (just to be extra) but just pick your favorite 🙂

And that’s it! My holiday makeup look. Glittery, silver eyes and red lips. It’s never been done, I know 🙂
What is your go to holiday party look? Are you a bold lip wearer? What makeup look should I do next?
