Soldier-Inspired 20 Minute AMRAP | Fit Friday

As you might already know, I’m an army wife. One of my favorite things to do (even for date night) is to workout with my husband. I’ve been trying to convince him to do crossfit, insisting that he’d be amazing at it because of the PRT that he does. There are definitely overlaps and I think he’d thrive in that fast-paced environment with an intense crossfit coach.

He’s more of a strict lifter, but when his shoulder heals, he’s doing it with me 🙂

Today I’m totally merging crossfit and army PRT into one with this Soldier Inspired 20 Minute AMRAP.

I started researching army and military inspired workouts and came up with a list of exercises. I then went to confer with the hubby and began listing off weird names of exercises that were all over other “Soldier Workouts” on the internet when I noticed he was looking at me like I was crazy. Basically, I was wrong. They don’t do any of that for PRT.

He rummaged through his bag and pulled out a worn out little cheat sheet that listed out all of their conditioning drills, “here, this is what we actually do.” I went through and chose my favorites to create an extra torturous AMRAP, so when I say this is soldier approved, you can trust that this is really a soldier approved workout.


Don’t worry if you are looking at that saying, WTH?! I didn’t know what hardly any of these were either. Luckily, the army has posted very clear videos about how to do each of these and I went ahead and linked them below 🙂

Supine Bicycle

Half Jacks

8-Count Push-Ups

Leg-Tuck and Twist
