2016 Best in Beauty | Monday Makeover

It’s that time of year again… when everyone is sharing their yearly beauty favorites. I can’t resist but join in! It’s always fun learning what products people love, especially ones that qualify as their YEARLY favorites. That means they must be good, right?

I have a goal to spend more money in 2017. Just kidding, my goal is to try out more new makeup, but take basically equates to spending money, right? 😉 So let me know what I should try out and we will see if it makes my 2017 Best in Beauty!

Face Winners

Mac Studio Face & Body Foundation – I’ve worn this for the past two or three years almost straight. It is the only foundation I’ve used all year and I love it! Light but buildable coverage with an amazing natural finish.

Mac Pro Longwear Concealer – It pairs perfectly with my Face & Body foundation because it provides stronger coverage, but only in the areas I need it. Lasts for a long time and, once again, one of the only concealers I’ve used the past two years.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit (2 time winner) – Yes, it’s a good one. The bottom middle contour shade is my go to. I’ve almost used it all up! The top right highlight is gorgeous too and I mix the other two face powders for all over my face.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Spotlight in Opal – Just plain gorgeous. I prefer this over the Becca powder highlights. It is a beautiful cream finish that looks so natural yet stunning.

Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder in Highlight-01 – This was a tough decision, but this was definitely my most worn powder highlight in 2016. It is semi-natural yet still gorgeous.

Benefit Dallas Box o’ Powder – Any and all mauvey neutral blushes were my go to this year and this is one of the best.

Eye Winners

Mac Soft Ochre Paint Pot (2 time winner) – I don’t know if this will ever change. I’ve used it forever. It is the perfect base that is similar to my skin tone, so it does it’s job!

Mac Soft Brown Eyeshadow – I used this all year two ways: as my go to crease, transition shade with almost any eye look and all over the lid, blended out into the crease. Sounds strange, but it’s gorgeous – hint: it’s my next makeup look coming to the blog.

Mac Sable Eyeshadow – As you can see, I really like shades that I can use for a one-shadow eye look. This is one of them. It’s a taupey, golden plum that flatters brown eyes beautifully and reflects in certain light in a way so that you can wear it all over your lid and it looks different on the lid than it does in the crease.

Jordana Fabuliner Liquid Eyeliner – I don’t know how this has lasted me so long, but that’s part of the reason I love it! I’m not the best at winged liner, but this year it has been drastically easier. I love this felt tip point.

Mac Costa Riche Eye Kohl – If you have brown eyes, you need this. I’ve also heard it looks great on green and blue though, so maybe everyone needs it. It’s a warm, rich brown that makes my eye color pop.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer – I like the thicker tip and the unique tip shape. It’s easy and fast, but still looks natural.

Cover Girl LashBlast Volume (2 time winner) – Another one that isn’t likely going to change. I don’t like spending a lot on mascaras and I cannot find a better drugstore mascara for my lashes.

Lip Winners

Mac Syrup Lipstick – I rediscovered this favorite in the second half of this year. It’s a natural, my lips but better lipstick that you can wear every single day.

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm – My new favorite lip balm that I discovered this year. I love the minty feeling and find it works really well.

Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Warm Caramel (2 time winner) – A favorite from last year too. It’s a nice browny nude that’s shimmery, but in the best way. Another, easy one you can throw on whenever without thinking about it.

Fragrance Winners

Chloe Eau de Parfum – I ran out of an entire roller ball of this and adore it. I’m looking forward to getting another one asap. It’s classic and classy but young and pretty and perfect.

Mac Turquatic – I couldn’t decide which is my number one, this or Chloe. I also ran out of Mac Turquatic this year and my husband bought me a new one. It was probably my most used all year. It will forever be in my collection.

Skin & Hair

Korres Rose + Vitamin C Advanced Brightening Sleeping Mask – I’ve used up two jars this year! When I repurchase a pricier item, that means I like it. It feels nice, smells nice and is gentle on my skin.

Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer – I love this for my daytime moisturizer with SPF. It’s simple, but does it’s job and I’ve been using it for years.

Simple Smoothing Facial Scrub – While I always use my Cetaphil Daily Face Wash, this Simple scrub saved my skin this year. I needed an exfoliator for bumps that were developing on my skin and knew I trusted this brand not to irritate my sensitive skin.

Simple Micellar Cleansing Water (2 time winner) – The best cleansing water and my favorite, gentle makeup remover that I’ve found yet. Others irritate my skin, but this one doesn’t and it doesn’t leave any greasy residue. It honestly feels like water. I sometimes use it for lazy cleansing instead of my face wash.

Clinique All About Eyes Rich – I went back to this eye cream this year after trying it a couple years back and not finding anything that I liked as much since then. It does one thing for me: moisturizes. And that’s really all I want from an eye cream!

It’s A 10 Miracle Hair Mask – I raved about this in a recent review. Here’s the jist: basically, it’s saved my hair from becoming a complete rats nest a few too many times already since getting it a few months ago.

What were your favorite beauty finds or repeat go-to must haves in 2016?
