Okay, so I just realized that this is going to be the first of three Asian-style recipes coming to the blog in the next few months.
Well, exciting in my book, at least because I LOVE Asian food of all types. Well, I take that back. I’m still getting more into Indian food… and Korean barbecue, while delicious, isn’t my favorite format. I get nervous sharing food and try not to eat more than my portion. #firstworldproblems
I love Chinese food, but the real tie for me is between sushi and Thai food. I could eat Thai food every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and sushi every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. I would be good with that.
My Grandma always tells the same story about me. She is a very traditional eater. She had six children and a husband who she always had dinner on the table for. Not the most complex meals and usually your typical American meat and potatoes. She isn’t the most adventurous, just like most of my cousins and aunts and uncles. My immediate family are the most adventurous eaters of the bunch. Anyways, Grandma was watching me one day when I was about five years old and home sick from school. When I woke up from my nap she asked me what I would like to eat, thinking I’d suggest McDonalds or something. I respond with, “…. how about Chinese?”
To this day she finds this hilarious. Now, I do think it’s adorable that as such a young kid that was my choice, that being said, my four year old talks about Thai food and Mexican food on the regular. To us foodies, this is a totally normal response, but to my traditional Grandma it was completely out of the norm!
Clearly I have loved Asian food of all types for a long time. Today, I’m sharing my Basil Chicken recipe. I also plan on sharing a Pad Thai recipe and Spring Roll recipe soon 🙂 What else do you want to see? I’m always cooking new types of stir fry, cashew and peanut dishes are one of my go-to’s 🙂
Are you a Basil Chicken lover as much as we are?
What other recipes would you like to see from me?
